CDA recognized oldest PHCCI Member

Gerarda-Teves-ReducedThe and Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) and  Negros Oriental Union of Cooperatives (NEORUNCO) recognized one of the most outstanding successful and oldest cooperative member in Negros Oriental.

Gerarda Amigo-Teves was awarded by CDA Administrator Orlando Ravanera. Teves is a member of Perpetual Help Community Cooperative since February 24, 1974.

CDA Administrator was the guest of honor and speaker during the General Assembly of NEORUNCO held recently.

Administrator expressed his admiration and salute to Teves for being a loyal believer of the cooperative.  He also lauded PHCCI for taking care of old members who now become the best example as success of cooperative.

At 93 years old, she is active in attending cooperative activities like Ownership Meetings and most recently held 45th Annual General Assembly of PHCCI.

Teves owns 10 units of apartments, several units of commercial spaces rented out and a Beach resort in Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental.  She said she started only with unit of apartment rented to students from Silliman University.  Through the help of PHCCI she was able to make a loan to expand her business.

Her being a Member in Good Standing (MIGs) made her enjoy low interest in loans and availed of higher loan amount that was used to expand her business.

Last August 2015, she made a loan from PHCCI to develop her beach resort in Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental around thirty minutes drive from Dumaguete City.

According to NEORUNCO Board of Director Chairman Dr. Profetiza Lim, they are recognizing the successful and oldest member of the cooperative. She added it is also part of recognizing the effort of the member in maintaining good records in the cooperative.

The story of Gerarda Amigo-Teves will set as good example for the members and the community. This is an indication that cooperative has strong contribution to local economy and development.
